Success Stories

What some of our alumni up to, where they're working, their thoughts and their experiences at Kohler Academy

Back to all Success Stories...

Drew Noreen, Cosmetology Program alumnus

When did you graduate?
I graduated in May 2009.

Where are you working?
I'm currently working with Aspire Salon & Spa in North Scottsdale.

How did you get your current job?
I was doing a hair show for AACS called Beauty Changes Lives, benefitting victims of domestic abuse. After the show, a great friend with PBA introduced me to Goldy Boyer, owner of Aspire.

What is your favorite memory of Kohler?
My favorite memory, hands-down, was Jill Kohler pushing me to go above and beyond my personal goals, helping me to create and accomplish new ones.

Were there any techniques or life skills you learned at Kohler that really helped you in your career?
Absolutely! I learned that we all grow from the same seed. Some need a little extra watering and sun, while others could use a little shade. But if we can recognize each other's strengths, put differences aside and bring power to weakness, we all can do anything!

What do you like most about being in the beauty industry?
The limitless opportunities. In such a short amount of time, and with proper networking, you can really take yourself anywhere. In addition, I am so taken by the constant love and support this career provides to anyone and everyone, new to or experienced in the beauty industry.

What are your plans for the future?
Where should I begin? I have so many personal goals and ambitions in this career. Currently I am on the Beacon Committee and would love to continue my involvement with future PBA and AACS programs. In addition, I'd like to eventually relocate to either CA or NY, open my own salon, create and successfully market and sell a unique product line, as well as head a high end editorial photo shoot. I am always on the look out for new and exciting opportunities and look forward to any and all that are to come my way!
